About this Resource

What is it?

Value Line providea financial information about large and mid-cap U.S. public companies, including forecasted projections, market performance, analyst consensus, beta, key ratios, business description, and commentary on current operations and future prospects. Provides model portfolios to illustrate effect of varying investment strategies. Also find company news, extensive graphing, market updates, portfolio tracking with alerts, and and stock screening tools. The Investment Tools tab provides access to investment education for new investors.

How Does it Work?

Please Note: "My Value Line" "My Account." "My Portfolieo" customization options are available for our Library subscription. 

The Value Line Investment Survey tracks approximately 1,700 stocks. The Small & Mid-cap Survey reports on another approximately 1,800 small & mid-cap stocks. Choose the PLUS Edition for access to their combined total, approximately 3500 companies.

Tip: Symbol Quote: gives a quick search with stock ticker symbol for stock price quote (20 minute delay,) news, or a chart. Symbol lookup will return ticker symbols for companies listed on the NYSE and the NASDAQ.

What's Available?

Investment Survey (Standard Edition)
One of the most widely used independent investment information services in the world, with coverage of some 1,700 equity issues. Every week, about 135 stocks in seven or eight industries are covered. 

Ratings & Reports presents a full-page individual stock report on each issue, highlighting the company's year-ahead and three- to five-year probable relative price performance, projections of key financial measures, and commentary on current operations and future prospects. This section also includes a one-page industry review for over 90 industries.

  1. "Selection & Opinion" features Value Line's views on the economy, the stock market and stocks of special interest, model portfolios, and economic and stock-market statistics.
  2. "Summary & Index" provides a key to locating the latest quarterly reports and cites the most recent data on each of the tracked stocks.

Investment Survey Plus Edition (combines the Small & Mid-Cap and the Standard Editions)
The Value Line Investment Survey tracks approximately 1,700 stocks. The Small & Mid-cap Survey reports on another approximately 1,800 small & mid-cap stocks. Choose PLUS Edition for access to the combined total of Standard and Small & Mid-cap, approximately 3500 companies.

Small and Mid-Cap Edition (formerly Expanded Edition)
Complements the Value Line Investment Survey and covers approximately 1,800 additional, mostly small-capitalization, issues. The Small and Mid-Cap Edition features consensus earning estimates for many companies, a business description of each company, including recent corporate developments, and Value Line's Performance Ranks, designed to predict relative price performance over the next six to 12 months.

Special Situations Service
Opens the world of emerging companies with bright futures to the more aggressive investor. Our analysts are constantly on the lookout for lesser-known stocks where unusual developments may pave the way for extraordinary rewards.

Mutual Fund Survey
Full-page reports on about 700 leading equity funds, and abbreviated reports on over 1,200 additional equity and bond funds. We also provide summary data reports on all of the funds in the Value Line Mutual Fund database, which contains about 13,000 mutual funds. Additionally, you can use on-line screening tools to search the database for funds that meet your specific investment objectives.

Daily Options Survey
Daily evaluations and ranks on over 130,000 options, on about 2,000 stocks, and 11,000 longer-term options (LEAPS). 

Convertibles Survey
Contains analysis and evaluation of over 700 convertible issues and nearly 120 warrants in a timely and easy to use format, as well as buy and sell recommendations, full- page reports on recommended securities, and news on companies in the service.
