Staff Guide provides video courses at all levels for learning software, web design, business or creative skills...and lots more. Try photography, drawing, architectural design and even video and music recording and production. And what about typography and fonts?

Arlington County employees access to a different site for -- they should see the Training page on
AC Commons. For thisStaff must request a online learning account in the Training Center, and have this approved by their supervisor - then the content will be available to them. It is different from the Library's subscription because not only provides testing, it tracks the completion of the course content for the student.


You Will Need

  1. A valid Arlington Public Library Card and PIN. Be sure your Library card has not expired and has no excessive fines and fees 
  2. Internet Only or "Online Registration" card Numbers are NOT authorized for
  3. Free Account/Profile needed
  4. Access to the Internet - on a computer or mobile device

About this Reesource

The Mobile App
Update -  2017 has informed us that the Library edition does not support the mobile app.  This means that patrons are free to try downloading and using the app -- but neither APL nor the vendor can provide any help or support. This is the only way a video can be downloaded, so patrons may want to try anyway.

  1. Be sure you have already created a profile using a web browser
  2. Install the app on your device or computer
  3. Open the app, tap Explore, then Organization tab
  4. Enter as Organization URL: [this is a change to our previous domain]
  5. Enter your Library card and PIN

More than 3000+ courses with 129,942 video tutorials. Most tutorials last several hours but are broken into multiple chapters. Courses may also include exercise files (practice), closed captioning and text transcripts.

Can I download a video?

ONLY if you are able to use the mobile app. 

Lynda on Roku

  • First, in a web browser, login to your Lynda profile on a computer, by visiting Library website
  • Then, on Roku, add the Roku channel and choose "code connect" to get activation code from Roku screen
  • Now, on computer go to
