POPS Resource Guide

Share the Love with Arlington Public Library

How to Participate: 

  • Register in the app or pick up a reading log from any library location.
  • Read (for any length of time) for 30 days; mark the app or reading log.
  • Visit the library to pick up your completion prize.
  • Super Readers: Read for an extra 10 days (required) and complete one of these three additional challenges to earn your entry into a series of drawings:
    • Visit the library to add the title of a book you read this summer to our "Heart Wall."
      • Please note: The Summer Reading Working Group will send die cut hearts to all locations and can replenish supplies as needed. The "Heart Wall" can be anywhere the location prefers and doesn't have to be a wall - it could be the service desk, the windows, etc. This challenge was created as a way to enable participants to complete a summer reading challenge right there at the desk without much effort from staff. 
    • Do something helpful for your family member, neighbor, or community 
    • Write a letter to a family member, friend, neighbor, or community helper to share your thoughts 

Prizes

Completion Prize: 

  • All ages: Children's book of their choice OR FOAL coupon PLUS 1 voucher for two tickets to a Nats game 
    • FOAL coupon: 
      • good for one book up to $4 in value
      • valid through September 30
      • STAFF: Save redeemed coupons in cash register and send to Rebecca Case/CAD.
    • Nats Voucher 
      • log in or create account at Nats website
      • input voucher number 
      • choose from select Regular and Value games from May through September.
    • The Washington Spirit will provide a promo code for free children's tickets to a soccer game; adults will still have to pay, so this is more of an informal bonus prize.

Super Reader Prize: 

  • All Ages: Entry into weekly drawings every Friday from July 11 through September 5. Earlier Super Readers will have a better chance at winning the prizes, as the pool will grow as the summer goes on. Entry into these drawings is automatic once they are marked a Super Reader, whether through the app or on the staff back end. Drawing Prizes include: 

    • July 11: Sports 

      • A prize pack and family pack of tickets from the Washington Mystics 

      • A Match Memory family pack of tickets to a Washington Spirit game  

      • A team signed jersey and a family pack of tickets from the Washington Capitals 

      • A family pack of tickets to a DC United game 

    • July 18: Outdoor adventures 

      • Free round of mini-golf and Climb Upton discount voucher from Upton Hill Regional Park 

      • A ride-along with an Arlington County Police Officer  

      • A behind-the-scenes tour of an Arlington County Fire Station 

    • July 25: I Scream for Ice cream!  

      • Free scoop of ice cream or gift card from local ice cream shops: Ice Cream Jubilee, Toby's Ice Cream, LaMoo Creamery    

      • A coupon for a free cookie from Captain Cookie 

      • Gift card to Village Sweet 

    • August 1:  Theater/Movie Night  

      • Tickets to various local movie theaters or live theatres:  

        • The Arlington Players 

        • Signature Theatre 

        • Alamo Drafthouse 

        • Arlington Cinema Drafthouse 

    • August 8:  Coffee's on us!

      • Gift card to Northside Social 

      • Gift card to Commonwealth Joe

    • August 15:  TBD

    • August 22:  Groceries

      • Trader Joe's gift basket of food and beauty items​​​​​​ 

    • August 29:  Last chance for ice cream!

      • Free scoop of ice cream or gift card from local ice cream shops: Ice Cream Jubilee, Toby's Ice Cream, LaMoo Creamery

      • A coupon for a free cookie from Captain Cookie

      • Gift card to Village Sweet 

    • September 5: Our five GRAND prize winners will win a $100 Visa gift card! 

Read for a Cause:

  • For every person who completes (basic completion level) SRP 2025, FOAL will donate $1 to Animal Welfare League of Arlington to help support their Paws & Read Program.

Staff Prize: 

  • Staff are eligible to win completion prizes but not Super Reader drawings.
