Stepping Stones to Early Literacy

Welcome to Arlington Public Library's program to help you help your child get ready to learn how to read! Join us for Summer Reading!

Let's Get Ready to Read with Stepping Stones

Join us this summer as we highlight a different practice to get ready to read. Each video will have a resource guide and a book list for further reading with your child!

Our Rich Languages and Cultures

In Arlington, we are lucky to have residents who hail from all over the world! Their rich languages and cultures are an integral part of our county’s vibrant tapestry. Watch this Stepping Stones video to sing and play “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” in three different languages, and learn why children who hear their parent’s native language are acquiring skills that help them learn other languages more easily.

Stepping Stones in Spanish/Pasos Hacia la AlfabetizaciĆ³n Temprana

Did you know that we have Spanish-language Stepping Stones videos that discuss the benefits of Singing, Talking, Playing, Reading, and Writing with your young child? Watch this video to hear some of our favorite songs sung in Spanish and to learn why singing with your child builds important early literacy skills.
