Adult Summer Reading 2020

What You Need to Know

We are bringing our summer reading program directly to you! Sign up here and start reading! Check back every other week all summer long for fun activities, inspired book lists, and lots more to explore!

Week One: What's Cooking

Welcome to Summer Reading at Arlington Public Library, the Adult edition.

Summer Reading at Arlington Public Library has begun, and we want to extend a welcome to all the adults in the community who love reading as much as we do. Why should kids have all the fun?

Studies of adult readers point tthe many advantages of reading, from allowing for better sleep to improving memory. A 2016 study at the Yale School of Public Health even stated“These findings suggest that the benefits of reading books include a longer life in which to read them.

Unlike in previous years, the 2020 Summer Reading program will be all online. There will still be many opportunities for prizes, reading challenges and special events such as author talks. Prizes include Barnes and Noble gift cards.

And by reading along with us this summer, you will also be helping to support our local food pantry, Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC). For each reader who finishes the Summer Reading challenge, the Friends of the Arlington Public Library will donate $1 to AFAC to support their work in obtaining and distributing groceries, directly and free of charge, to people living in Arlington who cannot afford to purchase enough food to meet their basic needs.

Need ideas for what to read next? The Library has you covered. You can ask one of your friendly librarians or explore our catalog.
