The Shop Equipment and Technology

The Silhouette Cameo Cutter is an electronic cutting machine that hooks up to your computer.

It comes with software that enables you to create a design and then cut it out on paper, vinyl, fabric, or heat transfer material.

The Shop also has a heat press with various attachments for patron use.

1. Create your design in the Silhouette program using one of The Shop’s Macs.
2. Connect the Mac to the Cameo Cutter using the USB connection. Load in the cutting mat with a material of your choice. Make sure they are aligned with the blue arrows on the machine.
3. Follow the steps in the program, making sure that the settings reflect the project accurately.
4. Click “Send.” The Cameo will then begin cutting out your design.
5. Once complete, unload the cutting mat and use The Shop's weeding tools to remove any unwanted material.
6. Use transfer tape to move the vinyl onto a new surface.

Each 12”x12” sheet of vinyl costs $0.50.

Each 12"x10" sheet of heat transfer vinyl costs $0.75.

If you bring your own material, there is no fee.

• Always do a test cut to ensure the settings are adequate before running jobs on a full sheet of vinyl.
• Creating a cut box around individual design elements makes the weeding process easier.
• If your project uses Heat Transfer Vinyl, be sure to mirror the design before cutting so that it is not transferred onto the fabric backwards.
• If you are transferring a design onto fabric that lays flat, use our regular Heat Press.  If transferring a design onto a hat, use our hat Heat Press.  Fabrics that are stretchy, have holes, or are unusual material may have trouble with Heat Transfer Vinyl adhering.
