Library locations should work to create displays, passive programs, and active programs that support/promote these themes and commemorative celebrations:

  • National Poetry Month
    • Programming expectation: 1 program for P&P
  • Earth Month
    • Programming expectation: 1 program for P&P
  • National Library Week (Apr 7 - 13)
    • Programming expectation: Keurig coffee/tea at all locations; consider a coffee & conversation program (leading up to Human Library)

SEASON 2: May/June/July/Aug 2024

  • Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (May)
    • Programming expectation: 4 adult and 4 YS programs system-wide
  • Summer Reading: "Adventure Begins at Your Library"
    • Programming expectation: 1 AS program per month per location throughout the summer; for YS, P&P will schedule paid performers for elementary school-aged children, additional special programs to support the SRP theme are welcome.
  • Pride Month (June)
    • Programming expectation: 4 adult and 4 YS programs system-wide
  • Juneteenth (Jun 19)
    • Programming expectation: 1 adult and 1 YS programs system-wide

SEASON 3: September/October/November/December 2024

  • National Library Card Signup Month (September)
  • Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15 - Oct 15)
    • Programming expectation: 1 adult / 1 YS program per location
  • American Archives Month (Oct)
    • Programming expectation: 1 program for Center for Local History
  • Banned Books Week (Sept 22-28) 
    • Programming expectation: 2 adult and 2 YS programs system-wide
  • National Coming Out Day (Oct 11)
    • Programming expectation: 1 adult system-wide
  • Halloween
    • Programming expectation: 3 adult and 8 YS programs system-wide
  • Native American Heritage Month (Nov)
