The Shop - About Us

 

The Shop is Arlington Public Library's Maker Space, located at Central library, 2nd floor. We are part of the POPS  team (Programs, Outreach, Partnerships, and Shop) under Julia Berg. We have 3 full-time staff and several temporary staff that support our Open Lab hours and many programs.

Maker Equipment for Staff Loan

Looking to hold a maker program at your location? Hosting an author, themed, or other event / series and would like to add a hands-on component? The Shop has equipment you can borrow. Please reach out to us if you are looking for equipment not listed or have any other questions.

Please note:

  • All reservation requests are mediated by Shop staff.
  • The number of each type of equipment is indicated by the number in parentheses e.g. (3).
  • Details about each piece of equipment can be found by clicking on the details link
  • Please note which equipment we will send materials with (Button makers) and ask us if you are not sure.
  • Please provide details in your request if there is something in particular you need or want. 
  • The button maker will be sent out with a max of 50 buttons. If you need more please contact us.
  • If you need your items sent out, please book for two days ahead and two days after your planned event and note in the booking what day the event is.

The Shop - Public Facing

3D Printing

Patron 3D Printing:

  • Patrons can submit 3D or resin prints for Shop staff to print. We charge 5 cents a gram for filament and 15 cents per mL of grey resin. Completed prints can be picked up at Central Library at the 1st floor circulation desk.

Staff 3D Printing:

  • We have limited availability to support staff requests for a free 3D print to support a program - Please ask!
